League of Legends Hextech Chest Brought Back After Fan Feedback

League of Legends is bringing back Hextech Chests following extensive fan feedback. Dive into the details of the upcoming update and what's on the horizon for LoL.

League of Legends Reverses Unpopular Changes

Hextech Chests Are Making a Comeback

League of Legends (LoL) is set to reintroduce Hextech Chests after listening to its community. Riot Games shared a comprehensive developer update on their website on February 27, 2025, and complemented it with a video on their YouTube channel.

Riot acknowledged that their recent changes didn't resonate well with fans, stating, "Recently, we’ve made a number of changes that didn’t hit the mark for everyone. We’ve been listening to your feedback, and it’s clear that there are areas where we need to adjust."

The reintroduction of Hextech Chests was a direct response to fan demand. LoL explained, "It’s clear that for many of you, Hextech Chests weren’t just a way to get stuff, they were an important part of making your time in League feel rewarding. We didn’t fully grasp how much this mattered to you, and that led us to make changes that missed the mark."

Starting with patch 25.05, players will be able to earn up to 10 Hextech Chests and keys per act. Eight of these chests will be available through the free pass, while the remaining two can be obtained via the Honor system.

Exalted Mordekaiser Delayed and Additional Fan Feedback Changes

Riot Games also announced a delay for the upcoming Exalted Mordekaiser skin, as the team aims to "take more time to make sure it better delivers on its core fantasy." This delay extends to the entire Exalted skin line, meaning fans won't see a new skin in every Act this year as initially planned.

In response to further fan feedback, LoL will replace one of the non-Prestige skins with 25 Mythic Essence, addressing concerns about the scarcity of Mythic Essence on the paid Pass and the frequency of new champion skins.

To enhance player accessibility, LoL will reduce the Blue Essence cost for all champions by 50% starting with patch 25.05, following discussions about blue essence and champion shards.

Additionally, Riot Games has decided to revert their earlier decision to run Clash less frequently. They will now maintain a monthly schedule, with March's Clash event featuring ARURF, followed by a regular Summoner's Rift Clash in April.

Blue Essence Emporium and Your Shop Return

Responding to community requests, LoL will bring back the popular Your Shop and Blue Essence Emporium. Your Shop is scheduled to return in patch 25.06, while the Emporium will follow in 25.07.

Riot Games emphasized their commitment to continuous improvement, stating, "We know getting League to the right place isn’t about just one set of changes. It’s about continually refining and improving the game in ways that make it better. We think today’s updates are an important step, and we’ll keep tracking how these changes feel, talking with all of you about how things are landing, and making adjustments."

With these updates, Riot Games demonstrates their dedication to listening to their community and making League of Legends a more enjoyable experience for all players. League of Legends is available to play for free on PC. Stay updated with the latest news on our League of Legends page.
