In a recent interview with Bloomberg, Zelnick emphasized the importance of keeping the release date a secret to fuel anticipation. He stated, "The anticipation for that title may be the greatest anticipation I’ve ever seen for an entertainment property... We want to maintain the anticipation and the excitement." This approach is supported by former Rockstar developers, such as Mike York, who worked on Grand Theft Auto 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2. York noted on his YouTube channel that Rockstar's silence is a deliberate tactic to encourage speculation and keep the community engaged.
York explained, "They're reaching and pulling and trying to come up with these really cool theories to decipher when the next trailer will be... Specifically Rockstar, they're very secretive about what they do, and this is a really cool tactic because it creates allure and it creates mystery and it creates people talking about it without them having to do anything."
Given Zelnick's comments, it appears that fans might not see GTA 6 Trailer 2 until closer to the game's projected release date in fall 2025, provided there are no delays.
