Forspoken, despite its free PS Plus release nearly a year after launch, continues to spark heated debate among players. Even those who acquired it for free are as divided on its merits as those who paid full price.
The December 2024 PS Plus Extra and Premium additions, including Forspoken and Sonic Frontiers, initially generated surprisingly positive feedback. However, this enthusiasm quickly waned for some. Many players abandoned Forspoken after a few hours, criticizing its "ridiculous dialogue" and weak narrative. While others appreciated the combat, parkour, and exploration, the general feeling is that the storyline and dialogue significantly detract from the overall experience.
It seems unlikely that the PS Plus offering will significantly boost Forspoken's popularity, given its inconsistent quality. The action RPG follows Frey, a New Yorker transported to the breathtaking yet perilous land of Athia. Armed with newfound magical abilities, Frey must navigate this vast region, battling creatures and powerful matriarchs known as the Tants, all in a desperate attempt to return home.
