Delta Force, previously known as Delta Force: Hawk Ops, is now accepting pre-registrations for its mobile release on iOS and Android. This relaunch by Level Infinite, a Tencent subsidiary, marks a significant entry into the modern military shooter market, slated for a late January 2025 launch. The game promises a blend of missions, modes, and a tactical gameplay experience.
For those unfamiliar, the Delta Force franchise holds a prominent place in FPS history, predating even Call of Duty. Inspired by the US military's elite Delta Force unit, the games have always emphasized realistic weaponry and gadgets.
Level Infinite's revival features Warfare mode (large-scale combat) and Operations mode (extraction-style gameplay). A single-player campaign, drawing inspiration from the Battle of Mogadishu and the film "Black Hawk Down," is also planned for 2025.
The Cheating Controversy
Despite high anticipation, Delta Force has faced criticism regarding its anti-cheat measures. Tencent's approach, while aiming to combat cheaters aggressively, has drawn criticism for its perceived overreach in restricting certain software and hardware on the PC version.
While the mobile platform may offer a reduced risk of cheating compared to PC, this controversy could still impact player interest. However, the potential for a smoother, cheat-free mobile experience might yet make Delta Force a success on iOS and Android.
