Author : Natalie Mar 27,2025

In *Dynasty Warriors: Origins*, you'll embark on a thrilling journey through ancient China, engaging in epic battles alongside various warlords. A key decision you'll face is choosing which faction to align with. Here's a comprehensive guide to help you understand the faction selection process in *Dynasty Warriors: Origins*.

Dynasty Warriors: Origins Factions Explained

*Dynasty Warriors: Origins* unfolds across multiple chapters, with the first two chapters allowing your character, the Wanderer, to remain neutral. During these initial stages, you'll interact with the factions led by Sun Jian, Cao Cao, and Liu Bei, participating in significant events such as the Yellow Turban Rebellion and the Battle of Hulao Gate.

However, by the time you reach Chapter 3, the game prompts you to make a crucial decision. You must choose one of the three factions to join by the end of this chapter. By this point, you should have a good understanding of each faction, but if you're still unsure, the game provides additional battles to help you make an informed choice.

To progress, you need to complete a specific number of missions for each faction. To ally with Sun Jian, you must complete three battles; for Liu Bei, two battles are required; and Cao Cao demands only one. Once you've fulfilled the mission requirements for a faction, a new mission will unlock, forcing you to choose a side. For instance, if you complete Cao Cao's mission first, you'll be presented with the option to ally with him or Liu Bei, with the latter option unavailable if you haven't completed his missions. You can always go back and complete missions for all factions before making your final decision.

Once you've made your choice, the faction you didn't select will be locked out for the remainder of the game. This means you won't be able to accept sidequests from their officers or increase your bond with them, potentially making your chosen path more challenging. For example, aligning with Liu Bei might limit your opportunities to earn skill points due to fewer commanding officers to interact with.

Each faction offers unique missions, so if you want to experience all that *Dynasty Warriors: Origins* has to offer, consider creating a separate save file before making your choice. This way, you can reload and explore different alliances.

That's how you select a faction in *Dynasty Warriors: Origins*. The game is now available on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S, ready for you to dive into the world of ancient China and make your mark on history.
