Indie game developer Sander Frenken has revealed that his upcoming strategy game, Battledom, is currently undergoing alpha testing. This RTS-lite title serves as a spiritual successor to Frenken's popular 2020 game, Herodom. Developed over approximately two years by Frenken, a part-time developer, Battledom closely resembles his original vision for Herodom.
Battledom introduces flexible RTS battle mechanics, enabling players to freely maneuver units across the battlefield. Engage enemies from anywhere on the map and manually control siege weapons for devastating attacks. Strategic formations are also available, adding a layer of tactical depth.
Players will amass coins to recruit units for their army. Initially, these units are equipped with basic weapons and lack armor. However, players can enhance their units by equipping them with a variety of weapons and armor pieces, each impacting stats such as range, accuracy, defense, and attack power.
These upgrades aren't found through exploration; instead, they must be crafted within the player's village. Gather resources like wood, leather, and coal, and then utilize the blacksmith, magician, and other village crafters to produce the necessary items.
Frenken is widely recognized for Herodom, which holds a 4.6 rating on the App Store. This game features over 55 collectible heroes, more than 150 units and siege weapons, and historically inspired battles. Progress unlocks new hairstyles, body types, crops, and animals for your in-game farm.
