Excitement is in the air for fans of the beloved *Avatar: The Last Airbender* universe as Nickelodeon and Avatar Studios have just announced a thrilling new series, *Avatar: Seven Havens*. This announcement marks a significant celebration of the franchise's 20th anniversary, brought to us by the original creators, Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko.
*Avatar: Seven Havens* is set to be a 26-episode, 2D animated series that follows the journey of a young Earthbender, who is revealed to be the next Avatar after Korra. The series is set in a world that has been shattered by a devastating cataclysm. In this new era, the young Earthbender discovers her role as the Avatar, but instead of being seen as a savior, she is marked as humanity's destroyer. Hunted by both human and spirit enemies, she and her long-lost twin embark on a quest to uncover their mysterious origins and save the Seven Havens, the last strongholds of civilization.
In their statement, Konietzko and DiMartino expressed their enthusiasm, saying, "When we created the original series, we never imagined we’d still be expanding the world decades later. This new incarnation of the Avatarverse is full of fantasy, mystery, and a whole new cast of amazing characters."
The series will be divided into two seasons, each consisting of 13 episodes, forming Book 1 and Book 2. DiMartino and Konietzko are co-creating *Avatar: Seven Havens* alongside executive producers Ethan Spaulding and Sehaj Sethi. While the cast has yet to be announced, anticipation is already building.
This new series is the first mainline TV project from Avatar Studios, who are also working on a full-length animated movie centered around an adult Aang. This movie is slated for a theatrical release on January 30, 2026, promising a new adventure for fans to look forward to.
