Longvinter, after a three-year journey through early access on Steam, has officially launched version 1.0! This release incorporates extensive player feedback and bug fixes, delivering a revitalized experience for both veterans and new players.
This major update introduces a significant gameplay element: oil rigs scattered throughout the archipelago. Players can now extract oil, process it into fuel, and engage in intense battles against LRI mercenaries guarding these crucial supply lines. New dynamic events further enhance gameplay, including helicopter crashes offering valuable tactical gear and an underground arena hosting hourly combat challenges with lucrative rewards.
The game world has been significantly expanded with the addition of diverse wildlife – lynxes, wolves, wolverines, foxes, moose, and goats – all tamable and usable as mounts. A wealth of new items has also been added, including performance-enhancing hats, protective vests, an array of weapons and explosives, new culinary recipes, and interactive building and decor items such as oil refineries, refrigerators, microwaves, power poles, and turrets. Weapon balance has also undergone substantial adjustments.
Future plans include the highly anticipated 1.1 update, which will introduce farming mechanics, a streamlined tutorial, apartment rentals, and the ability to establish shared communities. Furthermore, Longvinter's arrival on PlayStation is confirmed for 2026, bringing the game to a wider audience.
