I wasn’t planning on adding more Pokémon cards to my collection this week, but the allure of the Scarlet & Violet – Surging Sparks Booster Bundle at $45.02 on Amazon was too strong to resist, especially with the recent massive restock during the Amazon Spring Sale. It's the perfect time to grab some of the hottest sets while they're still in stock. My willpower crumbled faster than a 60 HP Basic facing a 390-damage Hydreigon ex.
The Surging Sparks set is my favorite because it embodies chaos in the best possible way. It includes chase cards that are worthy of grading, like the $432 Pikachu ex Special Illustration Rare. No, that's not a typo. This little electric mouse is not only a valuable collectible but also a powerhouse in battle. Its Topaz Bolt move can clear nearly any opponent from the board, while Resolute Heart makes it incredibly tough to knock out.

The Latias ex and Latios duo in this set is like a scene from a romance movie, featuring stunning connected artwork. Latias, the rarer twin, commands a higher price at over $200, proving that big sibling energy comes with a premium. Meanwhile, Milotic ex struts its stuff with dramatic light and shadow effects, also serving as a strong counter to Tera Pokémon, making it a versatile card in the meta.
My personal favorite, however, is Ceruledge. Its artwork evokes neon fever dreams, and I mean that in the best way possible. This marks the first time Ceruledge's card has held significant value, and I believe illustrator Rond deserves a round of applause. Ceruledge may not be a top-tier competitive Pokémon, but its stunning art is enough to win me over.
If you're a collector, the potential for value is undeniable. If you're a player, some of these cards can dominate on the battlefield. And if you simply enjoy the thrill of investing $45 in cardboard, consider yourself part of the club. I've already opened one box and am now rationalizing the need for another in the name of science.
The bundle comes with six booster packs, so there's no guarantee of pulling any heavy hitters, but given how quickly these are selling out, it's wise not to delay. After all, Pikachu isn't going to pull itself.
