Excitement is building as Alan Wake 2 developer Remedy Entertainment has just announced that the game's much-anticipated Anniversary Update will launch tomorrow, October 22, coinciding with the release of the thrilling The Lake House DLC. This significant update marks nearly a year since the game's initial release, and Remedy has taken the opportunity to express their gratitude to the fans, saying, "We can’t believe it’s been almost a year since Alan Wake 2 was released. Thank you to everyone who has played the game and become a member of our fanbase and the Remedy community, no matter when you joined us or how long you’ve been a fan."
The Anniversary Update for Alan Wake 2 is coming free of charge, and it's packed with a range of enhancements designed to enrich the gaming experience. Among the new features are expanded accessibility settings, including options for infinite ammo and one-shot kills, catering to a broader audience. Additionally, players can now invert the horizontal axis settings, and for PlayStation 5 users, updates to DualSense functionality will introduce haptic feedback with healing items and throwables, enhancing immersion.
Remedy has also listened closely to the community, incorporating quality-of-life (QoL) improvements that players have been eagerly requesting. "Work on Alan Wake 2 has not stopped since release. We’ve been working on the two expansions, Night Springs and The Lake House, but we have also been gathering your feedback and working on changes and improvements to the game based on that feedback," Remedy stated. "We’ve gathered those changes into the Anniversary Update, called that because well, it’s being released close to the anniversary of the original release of Alan Wake 2."
The update introduces a "Gameplay Assist" menu, featuring a variety of toggles to help customize the gameplay experience. These include options for quick turn, auto-complete QTE, converting button tapping to single tap, weapon charging with taps, using healing items with taps, Lightshifter with taps, player invulnerability, player immortality, one-shot kill, infinite ammo, and infinite flashlight batteries. This suite of options ensures that players can tailor the game to their preferred style of play, making Alan Wake 2 more accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
