Cut Mode: If no trump suit is chosen initially, the game begins without one. The first player unable to follow suit can choose a card to set the trump for the deal.
Once the trump suit is established, the highest card of that suit played in a trick wins it. If no trump cards are played, the highest card of the led suit takes the trick. The winner of each trick leads the next one, and all captured tricks are kept in a face-down pile by the winner.
A partnership that captures three or four of the Tens wins the hand. Capturing all four Tens is known as Mendicot, marking a significant achievement in the game.
